As I’ve been in the business of working for myself, I’ve noticed that there are still hardships that not many people realize. Don’t get me wrong. There are plenty of advantages, but it’s still difficult to work for yourself. And it’s especially difficult when it involves social media. Most recently, I got a bad review on my google page for my real estate page. The review wasn’t geared towards me being a terrible real estate agent, it was talking only about my “bad driving.” I was supposedly speeding through the streets and I had cut the other car off in traffic. My story was that she was going slower than the speed limit. I was merging into the lane and she sped up to not let me in. I didn’t have any other choice other than to speed up so I don’t crash into the road blockers. She didn’t care though. And I got a bad review saying that I was a terrible driver. None of this is related to my real estate skills. I already tried reporting it, but I think I have to personally call the customer service line in order to have it removed. The person lives in a neighborhood in my city that is known for bullying other people. They bully the services in their neighborhood and each other. There are no boundaries with them. I can’t say that I will join them in their behavior. I have too much work to do and there is no time that I can spend to bully other people on the internet. I only want to defend other teachers or small business owners. We are trying our best, but there are others that are willing to write a bad review for any reason that they can find. I hope that person doesn’t do that to any other business owner. I will be replying to her review with my own story because I don’t deserve to have her opinion be the only one on the internet. I work hard and I will not be bullied by this neighborhood.
Hi, good morning! I wanted to share my morning routine with my teacher friends on here and I hope it inspires some fellow teachers to be more productive in the morning. As many of you might know, I used to not be a morning person. I had to practice waking up in the morning. I’ve definitely gotten better at waking up early now. I wake up around 8:30 am-9 am.
In the morning, it takes awhile for me to wake up. I don’t always wake up right away. Instead, I got on my phone and I check my emails. I usually check my messages too in order to make sure I’m not missing anything. The most important part of my morning is looking at my google calendar. I check my calendar first thing in the morning and right before I leave the house. My calendar tells me which lessons I’m going to be teaching for the day and how to plan my day ahead. I double check because I also have to mentally prepare myself for the day ahead.
After I’ve woken up, I usually shower and get dressed. I pack my bags for the day and I head out the door. Since I’m reliant on my phone and my car for work, I spend some time checking both to make sure we’re okay for the day ahead. If I have impending messages, I make sure I respond to them before I go to my first lesson. There are times when I have to text my students ahead of time before our lesson time. These messages are priority so I am sure to be prepared for it.
Another important part of my routine is making sure I have my morning coffee and a breakfast. I’m a huge stickler for breakfast because I get low blood sugar if I don’t eat first thing in the morning. I’ve found that Dunkin’ Donuts has free coffee if you download their application. I also use the McDonald’s application and the Starbucks application. A huge part of my business is making sure that I’m accumulating points. If you’re not accumulating points from your food purchases, you’re definitely missing out. For a teacher like me, these applications are crucial to have. I will be posting more about which applications are my favorite to use. 😊
After I have breakfast, I’m ready to go for the day. My working hours are long, but I enjoy my job. If you are interested in learning more about teaching, I’ve written many blog posts on here about my teaching job. I hope this is entertaining and I also hope you’ve enjoyed reading my morning routine for teachers!
Good morning! I’ve been really enjoying this series where I talk about topics that appear in my day to day teaching. I’ve found these topics discussed in teacher forums also and I wanted to share them with my audience. I hope that other teachers will find this helpful as they start their mornings!
I expanded my studio through many ads on Facebook. Facebook has been my absolute best friend when I have to find new students. I’ve written posts about how I’m looking for new students and that I would be happy to help with anything related to the piano. My studio grew three years grow and it nearly doubled in student count. I couldn’t believe it. I was absolutely astounded at how fast it grew in one day. If I had to recommend the number one method of garnering new piano students, I would recommend utilizing Facebook. I currently use Facebook ads to run $1 ads per day. If I have one student reach out to me for lessons, the ad pays for itself for the entire month and more just from one piano lesson. It’s worth it for me because I don’t always have the time to repost my ad everywhere throughout the day. Another method in addition to Facebook is to utilize Facebook groups. Post your ads in Facebook groups in your neighborhood. Some groups have rules where they only want you to post once a month or at the beginning of each month. Be sure to follow those rules when you’re thinking about posting your ads. I’m excited to hear any other ideas you might have about marketing! Let me know what you think of my current marketing strategy and I wish you the best of luck in this field!
I’ve been struggling lately with working. I’m usually very good at my jobs, but I feel like I’m overworked. It’s difficult to handle two jobs at once. Since this year began, I decided to become a real estate agent. I’ve been working on my real estate classes and I enjoy learning more about real estate. I’ve also expanded my piano lessons to more students. This year has been great for me so far, but I always feel like I am losing time. I’m constantly feeling like I’m doing enough even though I work almost ten hours each day and six days a week. I know I must be overreacting, but I feel the pressure to work more than I currently am.
I wonder how other teachers are handling their jobs right now. Are they working as hard as they can or are they content with where they are? When do I know how much I can handle each day? I know that I am pushing myself. I wish I could just be kind to myself and know that I am honestly doing the best that I can.
Over the past few years, I have finally learned how to manage my time more effectively. I’ve changed my habits in order to accomplish more tasks during the day. I’m very proud of how far I’ve come in this endeavor and I am so happy to share how I maximize my time as a piano teacher.
One of the first things I’ve done is to use the business suite application in the App Store in order to schedule my posts on social media. I know that I don’t want to wake up at 7 am every day to post my social media posts. I use this app to schedule all of my posts ahead of time. I like that I can schedule them to post while I am working. It feels like I am accomplishing so much more during the day just because I planned my posts ahead of time. For holidays also, I schedule my posts ahead of time. This app is my new favorite and I can’t recommend it enough for people that own their own business. If you want to posts stories also, the app has the function to do so.
Another strategy that I’ve implemented is filming my content for social media ahead of time. Since I am always on the go, I don’t have time to sit in one place at home and film content for my social media every day. Instead, I film all of my content in one day and I post each video throughout the week. It makes it seem like I am working very hard every day without me having to exert the effort each day. I film piano videos of myself playing the piano for social media. These videos have helped me gain new piano students. I’m also planning on putting them on my piano studio website once I find the time to finish the website.
With all of these strategies, I believe that you can achieve more than you want to each day. It has changed my life and I hope that these strategies will help you as you become the best piano teacher that you can!
